Meet Kimberly Okumura, DDS
With more than 36 years of experience, Kimberly Okumura, DDS combines advanced dentistry with a genuinely warm and personal approach to care. A graduate of the USC School of Dentistry and a USC associate professor, Dr. Okumura provides comprehensive dental care to patients in Huntington Beach, California.
Throughout her career, Dr. Okumura has pursued advanced training in sedation dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, clear aligner therapy, laser dentistry, Perio Protect, and minimally invasive restorative techniques. Her extensive experience allows her to provide a wide range of preventive, restorative, and cosmetic services in one welcoming dental office.
Dr. Okumura is especially passionate about caring for fearful and anxious patients. She understands that visiting the dentist can feel overwhelming, particularly for those who have had difficult experiences in the past. Through patience, clear communication, a judgment-free approach, and conscious sedation options, she helps patients feel comfortable, understood, and confident throughout their care.
In addition to more than three decades in private practice, Dr. Okumura has maintained a longstanding academic career with the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. She began teaching at USC in 1990 and was promoted to Associate Professor of Clinical Dentistry in 2018. Her teaching and lectures have covered behavioral dentistry, patient management, treatment planning, communication, atraumatic injections, motivational interviewing, tobacco cessation, dental materials, and quality assurance. USC has also recognized her for her many years of outstanding faculty service.
Dr. Okumura’s professional experience extends beyond the classroom and treatment room. She has served as a Dental Director overseeing standards and quality of care across large dental organizations, lectured to fellow dental professionals, appeared on television to educate the public about children’s dental health, and contributed to research published in the Journal of the American Dental Association.
Her dedication to dentistry has earned recognition throughout her career, including honors as an Orange County Top Dentist, America’s Top Dentist, IAOTP Top Dentist of the Year, and multiple USC faculty service awards. She has also maintained professional memberships with organizations including the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Orange County Dental Society, and Orange County Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Today, Dr. Okumura brings her experience, advanced training, and compassionate approach to every patient she treats. Her philosophy is simple: provide comprehensive, high-quality dentistry while treating every patient with kindness, patience, and genuine personal attention.
